The Daisy Consortium
The international Daisy Consortium consists of libraries for the visually challenged and institutions all over the world who work together for a global transition from analogue to digital talking books, and a future global library.
The mission of the international Daisy Consortium is to develop international standards and strategies applicable to the production, distribution and use of digital talking books. Its goal is to prepare and maintain a common standard so that various countries can purchase and borrow talking books from each other. The Consortium is also engaged in laying the groundwork for a world market for talking book players.
Since 2005, the Daisy Consortium is the official organ for maintenance of the Daisy/Niso Standard, ANSI/NISO Z39.86-2005, the standard for Digital Talking Books.
The most important task of the Swedish Daisy Consortium, as a member of the Daisy Consortium, is to spread the knowledge about accessible media and inclusive publishing in Sweden.
